COMBINATION WALLS
Combination wall systems, also known as combi walls, are high-capacity retaining wall structures that combine king piles with intermediate sheet piles to create an efficient and economical solution for projects requiring greater structural capacity than conventional sheet piling alone. Combination walls are frequently used in ports, terminals, waterfront developments, quay walls, bulk terminals, bridge approaches, deep excavations, and heavy marine infrastructure where high bending resistance and long retaining heights are required.
In a typical combination wall system, the king piles act as the primary structural members and resist the majority of the bending forces. Intermediate sheet piles transfer soil and water pressures to the king piles while also providing a continuous retaining wall and cutoff barrier. This configuration delivers excellent structural performance while optimizing material usage and project costs.

Pipe pile combination walls utilize large-diameter steel pipe piles as king piles together with sheet pile infill sections. The pipe piles provide exceptional bending resistance and load-carrying capacity, making them suitable for deep-water berths, container terminals, bulk cargo facilities, waterfront retaining structures, and marine infrastructure projects.
The combination of pipe piles and sheet piles enables engineers to achieve greater wall stiffness and structural efficiency compared to conventional sheet pile walls.
