These machines use hydraulic force to lift piles without disturbing sensitive surroundings. They are particularly effective in tight spaces, low headroom conditions, or environmentally sensitive areas.

Silent pilers can also be equipped with aids like water-jetting or pre-augering, making them adaptable to challenging ground conditions. Their ability to eliminate working at height and operate quietly makes them a preferred solution in urban U.S. construction.

Choosing the Right Equipment

  • Pile type and size

Smaller sheet piles used in temporary shoring for roadworks can often be removed quickly with excavator-mounted vibro-hammers. In contrast, larger steel casings from bridge foundations may demand crane-suspended systems capable of handling heavier loads and deeper embedment.


  • Ground conditions

    In sandy soils along coastal projects, hydraulic extractors can lift piles smoothly. But in cohesive clay, such as those encountered in Mississippi levee works, auxiliary techniques like water-jetting or pre-augering may be necessary to break soil adhesion before extraction.


  • Surroundings

    Urban projects in places like New York or Chicago often face strict noise and vibration limits. Silent pilers are the preferred choice here, allowing contractors to remove piles without disturbing nearby hospitals, schools, or residential buildings.


  • Accessibility

    For projects over water — such as dock expansions in the Gulf Coast — hydraulic press-in machines provide flexibility where cranes cannot be safely positioned. Similarly, in confined spaces like subway construction, press-in systems allow extraction without requiring large equipment footprints.

In areas where the headroom is limited, vibratory hammers held by crane or excavator are obviously not an option. Hydraulic pile extractors are the correct choice. This also applies to narrow areas or wherever space is not enough to set up a crane or maneuver an excavator. Sloping grounds also limits the mobility and positioning of excavators, the arm length of cranes might come short for long reach, while the hydraulic pilers suites all kind of terrains.
